Mantousai-Festival

Once a year the area sparkles with a million lights

Food stands setup only for this festival day bustle with people
seeking divine favor to ward off bad luck for 46,000 days

Walking through the crowd and trying not to bump into people

This festival night is a special moment

Japanese people gather here,
young and old dressed in their best,
they look forward to this day

A scene engraved in the hearts of Japanese
A night we cherish deep inside of us

Yes, this is Japan
The legend Japanese have cherished since the time of our ancestors continues here

This is Japan
Hattasan Sonei-ji Temple

This a real Itonami or life force instead of something for tourists
This is where Japan still remains
